Crossover
Week – July 9-13, 2018
Afternoon events taking place after VBS program
For students going into grades 6-9
Each day
after VBS (July 9-13) we run Crossover events for those going into Grades 6-9
to help students "cross over" from kids ministry to preteens, and
from preteens to youth! This week-long afternoon program is FREE! Just be sure
to bring your signed waiver, lunch, and any other needed supplies with you.
Crossover
begins each day right after VBS is done, but is a separate program. It runs
until 3:00 pm each day (except beach day, which is until 5pm). This program is
open to those who attend or volunteer for VBS, and also for those who don't! As
long as you are going into grades 6-9, you are welcome to join us.
Students who
attend Bethany and are going into Grades 10-12 can register as teen volunteers
for Crossover events. This volunteer position includes food preparation,
leading or preparing games, etc. You will still need a Summer Event Waiver as
you will be able to participate in many of the activities that don't require
active leadership (e.g. beach day, Paint Wars, etc.).
What happens during Crossover Week?
Monday, July 9 – Hot Dog Lunch & Icebreaker Gross
Games!
Hang out
with your friends and make some new ones with games designed to help us get to
know each other better! Lunch provided this day only (hot dogs, juice, chips
and veggies). Bring:
a signed Consent Waiver if you did not hand one in during the school year, and
a change of clothes; Gross games are messy! Pick up time is 3 pm.
Tuesday, July 10 – Board Games & Video Games
Bring your
lunch and beat the heat. Come for an afternoon of games in The Attic with old
and new friends. Bring your lunch, and
a favourite game! 3pm pick up.
Wednesday, July 11 – Centennial Beach
We are
heading to the beach! The bus will leave about 12:30 from the church and return
at 5 pm. We will eat lunch when we get there. Bring: lunch, water, sunscreen, hat, towel,
clothes to get wet in, change of dry clothes.
Please note - Today only is 5:00
pm pick up.
Thursday, July 12 – Paint Wars!!!
Join us for
a wacky afternoon of paint-based games at McLean Park! We use tempera paints
that do wash out of hair and skin, but bring some old clothes (dark clothing
works too) and a WHITE SHIRT that can get colourful. Paints generally wash out
of clothing but may leave some residue depending on the fabric. Parents, we
will hose your kids off outside before they go inside to change into a clean
outfit to wear home. Bring: lunch, old shoes/shorts, WHITE SHIRT, towel, change of
clothes, water and sunscreen. We provide plastic bags to take home
wet/colourful clothing.
Friday July 13 – Wrap-up Movie Day
Bring your
lunch and watch a movie together. Concession will be open, so bring some change
to get some candy AND support our Compassion Child, Mukire. We will be showing
the movie “Wonder”. Bring your lunch. Pick up at 3 pm.

Wednesday, July 18 - Gym Games
Going into Grades 6-12 - From 7-9 pm. Meet first in the Youth Room.
Bring a friend and join us for lots of crazy games in the gym!
Monday, July 23 - Make Your Own Pizza Night
Going into Grades 6-12. From 6-9 pm in the Youth Room.
Let’s make dinner together! Come learn how to make pizza and choose your toppings. Board and video games available after dinner. Please sign up no later than July 22 so we can buy enough ingredients.
Thursday, July 26 - Whistler Day Trip
Going into grades 8-12. From 9am - 9pm. Meet at Church office.
Let’s go and explore! Watch for more details on the FB group. Sign up no later than July 24. Parent drivers may be needed.
Monday, July 30 - Games Night
Going into Grades 6-12. From 7-9 pm in the Youth Room.

Wednesday, August 1 - Fireworks at English Bay
Going into grades 8-12. From 4pm-midnight-ish - Meet at Skytrain (arrangements made that week)
We are heading downtown to grab dinner and head to English Bay to hang out before the 10pm show. Bring comfy shoes, $$ for transit & dinner, swimsuit and towel (optional) and something to sit on. Sign up no later than July 30 so we can make arrangements for which station to meet at in advance.
Friday, August 3 - Service Project - Feed the Hungry @ Tent City
Going into Grades 8-12. From 10am -2pm. Meet at the Youth Room.
Come make sandwiches in the morning, and then help take them to ‘tent city’ in Surrey to feed those in need. Sign up by August 1 so we know how many drivers we need.
Wednesday, August 8 - Lynn Canyon
Going into Grades 6-12. From 10am - 3pm. Meet at the Church Office.
Bring comfy shoes, bathing suit and towel, lunch and water and join us for a day of swimming and hiking. Limited spaces available – sign up no later than August 6. Parent drivers may be needed.
Friday, August 10 - Richmond Night Market
Going into Grades 8-12. Meet at 6:30pm at the Church Office. End time TBA.
We are heading to the Market for some evening food and fun – wear comfy shoes and bring $4.25 admission and spending money. Limited spaces available – sign up no later than August 8. Parent drivers may be needed (we would cover your admission fee).

Wed-Thurs, August 15-16 - Movie Marathon Overnighter
Going into Grades 8-12. From 10am on Wed. Aug. 15 to Some Time on Thursday. (End Time TBA).
Let’s do a movie marathon! Series to be decided by you by poll on FB. Meals & snacks provided. Bring overnight stuff - sleeping bag, pillow, change of clothes, deodorant, etc., as well as a favourite snack to share.
Tuesday, August 21 - Big Splash Waterpark
Going into Grades 6-12. From 10am-6:00pm. Drop-off/pick-up at Church office. Admission is $32.
Big Splash in Tsawwassen is open this summer! What a perfect way to hang out and beat the heat!! Sign up and pay before August 19. (if 20 or more people sign up the cost becomes $28/person).
Mon-Wed, Aug 27-29 - CAMPING @ Golden Ears!!
